I ordered some perches that now stick out from the feeder so the birds can more easily find a place to perch. The provided perches are too close to the feeder, so larger birds simply weren’t comfortable landing. I added a couple of perches that are screwed on and I now have a VERY busy feeder.
I had to make a special stand to hang it on because I wanted it right outside the window for my Mom to enjoy. It has already paid for itself in the joy I see her get watching it. It holds enough bird food to last several days. When it is emptied I drink it in and give it a little cleaning and drying. This task is made very easy by the way they manufactured it. Somebody thought ahead on that. It also does not just dump food out, but yet still allows the birds easy access. I went ahead and made a whole deal to hold it, cover it and keep it dry. I even put a light up in it, so the lid cover doesn’t hide the brightness of Moms birds.
Big, heavy and easy to fill. My advice is to spend a few dollars more and be happy.
I bought this to attract larger birds and it worked. I now have birds coming to the feeder that I have never had here before.
So I found this bird feeder and I’m hoping that it is indeed squirrel proof. Because I have this squirrel in my garden that just keeps eating all the bird seed from my birds. I purchased this and I’m now I’m waiting to see if it is actually going to be squirrel proof. Hopefully it is!
